 Modeling and Uv's

Modeling: Layout
From a cylinder (main centerpiece).
1. Extrude top face in for centerpiece shape, and center light.
2. Extrude out to make walkways and steps.
3. Extrude up making walls, second floor and ceiling.

UV's
  • Apply material: Right click (hold) mesh > Materials > Assign existing material > utility material
  • Unitize: Select Mesh > UV Texture Editor > Polygons > Unitize
  • Smooth edges: Edit Polygons > Normals > Soften/Harden
  • Centerpiece light planar mapped from Y. Edit Polygons > Texture > Planar Mapping

  • Selecting faces in the view port, and moving those uvs in the uv editor works for quickly adjusting all the unitized faces.

    Details and Props

Large boxes set at different scales and angles make great support beams. Create one set and duplicate them around the room. For more information on Modular environments, click here.

These smaller details are simple shapes UV'ed to specific sections of the material. The long wire is a nurbs circle extruded along a curve.

  • Create > CV Curve Tool
  • Curves > Nurbs Circle
  • Surface > Extrude
  • Manually adjust to fix any weird shapes.
